Privacy policy
At Doras Distributors Ltd we take our responsibilities under the GDPR seriously, and we aim to be clear about how we acquire, use, protect and manage personal data in running our business. This policy covers both: how we handle personal data as a wholesale business, and exactly what this website does with it.
Last updated 3 November 2026
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Doras Distributors Ltd is a wholesale company located at Unit 7, Park West Industrial Estate, Nangor Road, Dublin 12, D12 Y6FP, specialising in the importation and distribution of timber doors and mouldings. Our company registration number is 98655. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
If you have any question about how we process your personal data, call us on 01 623 5444, email sales@dorasdist.com or use our contact form.
This website and the systems behind it are built and operated for us by our technology partner, who acts as our processor.
2. Personal data we hold as a business
As a wholesale company we hold personal data about our trading partners and about any other organisation involved in buying, stocking, selling and distributing our products, or in providing administrative, financial or IT services we need to run the business. This can include name, address, email address, telephone number, occupation and date of birth.
It comes from those partners and organisations themselves, and from credit reporting agencies. We process it because it is necessary to manage our trading relationship with you, because it is necessary for contractual reasons, and because you have consented to its use in our day-to-day business with you.
We may share it with the other companies in the group to which we belong, with financial and legal service providers, and with marketing companies. The data held in our office systems is stored in the EU, with cloud storage through the Dublin-based MozyPro data centre.
3. What this website collects
You can browse this entire website — every product, every fire certificate reference, every datasheet — without giving us anything, and without being tracked. The website collects personal data in two places only: when you send an enquiry, and when a trade customer signs in.
- Your enquiry
- Name and email address, and optionally your company, phone number and county; what you wrote, and the product you were looking at if you started from a product page; that you confirmed you had read this policy, and whether you asked to receive trade news.
- Trade accounts
- If Doras invites you to a personal trade account: your name, email address and the business it belongs to, and your password, which is stored only in a one-way scrambled form we cannot read. The shared trade login for a business holds no personal data at all.
- A hash of your IP address
- Not the address itself. It is put through a one-way, salted hash before it is stored, and it is used only to stop abuse — the same connection sending more than 5 enquiries in 10 minutes, or guessing at a trade login. It cannot be turned back into an address.
We use your enquiry to answer it, which is necessary to take steps at your request before a contract and is in our legitimate interest in answering trade enquiries about our products. We use trade account details to give that business access to its own prices and stock. We only send marketing email if you tick the box, and you can stop it at any time by asking us.
4. Who sees website enquiries
Your enquiry goes to the Doras team who can answer it. We do not sell website enquiries, we do not share them with advertisers or marketing companies, and we do not pass them to anyone for their own marketing.
There is one exception, and it is the reason most enquiries are answered at all. Doras Distributors Ltdsupplies doors and frames to the trade through retailers such as builders merchants, joinery shops and door showrooms, rather than selling direct, so if the right answer to your enquiry is a retailer near you, we may pass it to one of them so they can help you. That means giving that retailer your name, your message and the contact details you gave us — your email address, and your phone number if you provided one — so that they can get back to you directly. When that happens we email you to tell you which retailer has it, so you always know who has your details and who to expect a call from. We only ever pass an enquiry to one retailer, a person at Doras decides which one, and we never pass it to anyone for their own marketing. If you would rather we did not, say so in your message or reply to that email and we will handle it ourselves.
5. Where website data is stored and processed
Website enquiries and trade accounts are stored in a managed database in Amsterdam, and files in object storage in Amsterdam. The website itself runs in Frankfurt. All three are in the European Union.
One exception, stated plainly:the emails this website sends — the notification of a new enquiry to our team, the confirmation and referral emails to you, and trade account invitations — are delivered by Postmark, an email service operated from the United States. The content of those emails, which can include your name, contact details and message, therefore passes through a provider outside the EU. That transfer is covered by Postmark’s data processing terms, which rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies when you browse it. We count visits with Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly service hosted in the EU. It uses no cookies, does not collect personal data or build profiles, and does not track you across other websites. We only see totals — for example how many people visited a page, which site they came from, their country and device type. Plausible does not store your IP address.
The only cookies are sign-in cookies, set when a trade customer or a member of our staff signs in, and needed for that sign-in to work: the trade login cookie records which price list you may see and lasts 12 hours. There is no advertising pixel and no tag manager on these pages. Fonts are served from our own site rather than from a font provider, and the only other thing your browser fetches is product photography from our own content delivery network.
7. How long we keep personal data
We do not keep personal data for longer than is necessary for the purpose it was collected for. When it is no longer needed for our day-to-day business it is disposed of. If at any time you want us to stop holding your data, we will dispose of it on your instruction, unless that conflicts with a duty we have to keep it.
8. Your rights
- Access
- To know what information we hold about you, how we hold it, why we hold it and how we process it.
- Rectification
- To ask us to correct any inaccuracy in it.
- Deletion
- To have us dispose of it on request, unless we must keep it for legal reasons.
- Portability
- To get a copy of it.
- Objection
- To object to our processing of it.
- Restriction
- To restrict how much we process it.
- Withdrawing consent
- To tell us to stop processing it where we rely on your consent.
To use any of these rights, call us on 01 623 5444, email sales@dorasdist.com or use our contact form, and we will respond within one month.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have processed your data, contact our Data Protection Officer on 01 623 5444.
You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission, in writing through their website at dataprotection.ie, by post to the Data Protection Commission, 6 Pembroke Row, Dublin 2, D02 X963, or for general questions by phone on (01) 765 0100 or 1800 437 737.
